Maya is overjoyed that spring has finally arrived, as she tries to rouse the hive and Willy, but they have both fallen back to sleep. When Maya and Willy visited the glow-worms, they brought them up to destroy the colony and the priceless sun stone, much to the Queen's disgust. Maya hears that she and Willy are going to be split up because of their disastrous partnership, so she doesn't need an invitation to leave the hive "to do something special" to show that she and Willy are deserving of being together.
This chance unexpectedly presents itself in the form of a green ant going by that is attempting to escape the muscle-bound predator.
