Saravanan receives his ex-girlfriend Meera's wedding invitation one morning in his house. He and his friend Parthasarathy alias Partha drive to Pondicherry for the wedding. Saravanan reflects about his past while driving: He was a laid-back young man who worked in a movie theatre alongside Partha. He lives with his parents, his father, Varadharajan, who is educated and works as a college professor, and his mother, Shenbagam, who is uneducated and is attempting to pass an exam in order to obtain her college degree and her husband's love, after Varadharajan stopped speaking with her the day after their marriage when he discovered she is uneducated. He meets Meera, a girl preparing to be an air hostess, in traffic one day and falls in love with her.
